     OUR HISTORY:

Explorer’s Bible Study is an interdenominational ministry with headquarters located 35 miles west of Nashville in Dickson, Tennessee. Tom and Nellie Constance founded the Bible study in 1972. They did not set about to begin a Bible study ministry but saw a need, and being obedient to God’s call, sought to fill that need.

Mrs. Constance helped establish and teach a Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) class for 10 years. During that time, she saw the power and effectiveness of this wonderful study method. There were many members of the class who were traveling over 60 miles each way to attend the Bible Study. These women approached Mrs. Constance and asked if she would be willing to write similar curriculum to have available in their communities. The need for in-depth study materials for use in smaller towns and communities where BSF was not available became the driving force for what would become Explorer’s Bible Study.

Within 5 years, there were over 60 classes established throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. In 1977, the ministry was formally organized as a non-profit ministry. Today we have over 120 classes with thousands of current and past members who have grown as they studied, shared, and applied the Word of God to their lives.

At first, the lessons were written by hand, then typed onto a mimeograph stencil which Mr. Constance duplicated on a small machine in the basement of their home. When the basement was outgrown, an old chicken coop behind the garage was remodeled to accommodate the growing ministry. Over the years, we have continued to grow and expand. In 1993 God provided a beautiful headquarters facility with plenty of room for future expansion in Dickson, Tennessee.

Through the years we have had the opportunity to see our ministry reach beyond anything that had been envisioned or dreamed at the start. We echo Paul in Ephesians 3:20-21: “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” NKJV

THE MISSION OF EXPLORER'S BIBLE STUDY IS:

To bring individuals closer to God through in-depth study of the Bible, understanding God through the reading of His revelation of Himself in the Bible, and coming to know His Son Jesus Christ in all His fullness through the power of the Holy Spirit.

To help encourage individuals to establish a pattern of daily Bible study and to make the Bible a living and interesting book for those involved in its study.

To make Bible study relevant to daily life through the power of the Holy Spirit and to make God’s promises effective in each student’s personal experiences.

To equip and motivate individuals to contribute more effectively to the life and work of their individual churches, supporting them faithfully in prayer, stewardship, and service.

To help individuals make a greater impact for Christ in their families and community, communicating to others what they have learned and received, being alert to opportunities to affect others for good, and serving in the Kingdom of God.
