Children/Youth Curriculum Overview
Beginnings I
This parent’s guide is a complete handbook for daily
Bible study with your preschool child. Each day’s lesson contains
several elements that the parent can use depending on the child’s age,
attention span, and ability.
Bible Stories
teach children about God.
Guided Prayer Thoughts
help each child learn how to talk with God.
Bible Words to Remember
encourage children to hide God’s Word in their hearts.
Questions: Thinking and Remembering
help the student build a solid foundation of Bible knowledge and
understanding,
Praise Hymns
help children learn songs they can use to praise the Lord.
Virtue Lessons
teach application of God’s Word to your child’s life.
Each of the two books in this series contain thirty weeks of daily studies: And It Was Good: Old Testament Lessons for
Little Listeners and Precious in His Sight: New Testament Lessons
for Little Listeners. The Beginnings I curriculum has
been coordinated for use with our Beginnings II series for
Early Elementary students (see below). This series provides a wonderful
foundation for parents wanting to establish a pattern of daily study.
Beginnings II
This curriculum is
designed for the young reader/writer in the Early Elementary years.
This daily study features large print lessons that are perfect for the
young Bible scholar who is ready to read and write on his/her own.
Bible Stories
teach children about God.
Questions:
Thinking and Remembering help the student build a solid foundation
of Bible knowledge and understanding.
Words to Know
give brief definitions to help explain difficult words or concepts.
Prayer Thoughts
help each child learn how to talk with God.
Bible Words to
Remember are provided to encourage and develop memorization skills.

designed to help your child apply God’s Word to his/her life.
Workbooks in this
series contain a thirty weeks of daily lessons for your student.
Jesus, My Shepherd: New Testament Lessons for Young Readers, is the
first of two books to be published in this series. The Old Testament
edition will be available in 2005. Beginnings II is
coordinated to be used day by day with our Beginnings I
curriculum for preschoolers.
Discovery
This daily
study guides students into a careful reading and examination of the
Bible text and is designed for the upper elementary student
(Grades 3-6). This course focuses on comprehension and
understanding of the content of scripture. The Bible text for each
day’s lesson is printed in the lesson along with questions designed to
help the student develop a habit of disciplined, systematic study in a
verse by verse method. Inductive questions are occasionally used in the
review portion of each week’s lesson.
Lessons also include:
Map Studies
aid the student in understanding
the geography of the lesson.
Word
Meanings are provided to help
students comprehend difficult words and phrases.
Weekly
Lesson Reviews help students to
retain what they have learned.

has been coordinated with our Quest (Jr. & Sr. High) and
Adult level books so that families can study the Bible
together. See the Scope and Sequence chart to review
titles currently available in this series along with their corresponding
studies in the Quest and Adult levels.
Quest
This series is in a daily format style utilizing the
inductive study method. The questions are designed to help the student
discover not only what the Bible says, but also to use analytical and
reasoning skills in exploring meaning and finally application to his/her
life. Study notes at the end of each lesson provide additional
background information, answer many questions that the student may have had
as he/she studied, and provide additional life application emphasis.
Questions help
each student understand 1) what the Bible says, 2) what it means, and 3)
how to apply it to his/her life.
Map Studies
aid the student in understanding the geography of the lesson.
Notes give
deeper understanding and communicate solid Biblical truths and
principles.
Quest
lessons make the student think, evaluate, understand, and apply
what God is communicating through His Word.
